Subscriptions to this blog

Regular visitors to this blog will notice a subtle change – there’s now a pop up window that asks you to subscribe to our blog list and a subscription form at the bottom of most of our articles.

I’m doing this for your benefit as much as ours. I acknowledge some people don’t like “pop ups”. That’s why I want to explain why we’re doing this and to ask for your feedback.

I want to use the list to send people special offers and updates that are happening in their area. For instance we are in Melbourne for 3 months, I can send am email to everyone who nominated Melbourne as their city. Our next stop will be LA in June, so if you nominated your city as “Los Angeles” then we can send you special discount offers. We’ve been invited to teach in other places like Auckland, Geneva and so on. So basically, it really helps us to know where our readers live and to be able to contact you.

At this time we’ve only sent 2 emails ever to our mailing list (in 12 months), so you don’t need to worry about being “spammed” by us. You can of course unsubscribe from any time.

If you aren’t sure whether you are on the list or if you aren’t sure that you filled in the city details, please subscribe again. Don’t worry you wont get 2 emails from us. The system will recognize your email address and just update other details like name or city.

Long term plans

Some of you may be wondering about our longer term plans with this site.

My plan is to become a professional blogger. As I hand over the management and teaching of RPT to others (mainly from the teacher training in August), I will have more time to devote to research and to share my new learnings with the community via the blog. You will therefore see lots of changes to this blog towards the end of the year.

If you have any thoughts or feelings or feedback about this, please leave a comment below.

For instance – the pop up is set to 2 minutes. Is this too short or too long? Is it easy to get rid of if you don’t want to subscribe? Also – if you have subscribed or gotten rid of the pop-up, does it keep coming back every time you visit or does it remember you and leave you alone?

thanks for the feedback

  1. Greetings! I love the addition. And this is coming from someone who really does not like pop-ups. I think the 2 minute wait and the fade-in made it feel less obtrusive. I was already 2 minutes into a blog post – enough time to be totally hooked and want more – then the pop-up made it easy for me to get more content.
The location field also feels like a great idea. I’m perpetually traveling right now, but in the past I had already been brainstorming about this. When I lived in San Diego I wanted to gather interest for a course, and let you know about it. Now it should be easier for you to know what locations you’ve got interest in.
Thanks for sharing all this, Simon. Looking forward to reading more.
    Namaste!

  2. Hi Simon,

Sounds like you are extending your retirement to involve development and research instead instead of just retiring.

It is perfectly understandable you are allowing more time for yourself and your needs, mate!

Keep up with the good work and team spirit you shared.

    With loving regards,

Well in the spirit of my great teacher Tim Ferris (www.fourhourworkweek.com) I’m taking “mini-retirements” between workshops! I’ll be doing this job for a while yet… till we have the world embracing simplicity and grace instead of dualty and drama.
